I’d write more, but I’m hungry – my point is that these places are cheap, they’re unique, and they’re vastly underrated by most Canadians, who don’t even know all this shit is here in the Maritimes, most of it within a short drive. Sometimes I think the reason Maritimes don’t talk glowingly about their home is actually that deep down we don’t want anyone to go there and change it.
I’m afraid so. I was born and raised in Oak bay and that neighborhood starts at 1,000,000+. But the average house price in Victoria is 500,000+. I currently live in Campbell River and I bought it 6 years ago and my place has almost doubled since. I couldn’t afford to buy my place now. But it’s like this all over the island. Our secret is out and everyone is coming here.
