Hopefully, with more people working from home, some may move back to the rural communities but without high-speed internet, they are as good as dead….and good riddance. You can see that play out in Michigan. There is a line between the lower 1/3rd of the state that is more democratic, more educated, and has a better economy. It is where most of the universities and hospitals are located. The top 2/3 of the lower peninsula and most of the upper peninsula (except Marquette and Traverse City) is beautiful but just does not have any economy to speak of.

My cousins who live in the north are getting left behind and are becoming angrier. It is a little scary when I think about them. Many cities are so large they should have their own representative in Congress, frankly. The size of our Congressional districts is so large that these massive cities have their will distorted in Congress through gerrymandering. It’s high time and adds enough representatives to be more in-line with Madison’s original vision called for: somewhere between 1,130 and 1,700 members in the House.
