This has been my whole life. That’s why it bothers me so much when white people say “racism doesn’t really exist.” Yeah try telling that to me, a half white/ half black woman, who saw her parents meet racism in the 90s. A woman who is now with a white man herself, and lives in a conservative part of the city she grew up in. (I grew up in the liberal area of the city, and now I’m in the trumpet part). Growing up was being told, “hey even if you’re half-white everyone will see you as black and black people are the least liked ethnicity in the world.” I still believe this is true.

It’s not fun being the least liked ethnicity in the world. It’s not fun that America exports its media that portrays PoC as being criminals and thugs, so even in other countries, I visit I am hated and harassed. Every day is dirty looks, every day is white and Asian people being rude to me just for existing. I’m college educated, I went to law school, I speak well and I’m not randomly rude, but in my neighborhood that isn’t enough. I have to be full white to expect kindness. Not to mention, being half-white means black people have never liked me either. SO I can’t even expect kindness from black people either.
