My brother and I both dealt with suicidal depression. I’m 28 and still live with them. Next year I’ll finally finish my degree. I’d have finished it earlier but I was sick for a few years in my mid-20s. That wasn’t their fault, in fact, their support is what made my recovery possible. But I had undiagnosed ADHD as a kid and dropped out of high school twice, and up until my illness was playing catch-up. Now I’m still playing catch-up.

My brother is two years younger than me. He’s barely left the house since he graduated high school eight years ago. He’s never had a job, not even a casual one. He just plays computer games all day. My parents have given up on him because even trying to get him to see a therapist was a battle. He’s obviously severely depressed, but they’ve tried everything they could and it didn’t seem to go anywhere.
