My first major issue was the driveshaft busted. I literally googled nonstop things like “car in drive makes grinding noise” or “car won’t move forward” and got results ranging from transmission destroyed, rear-end bad, etc. Now that I am older and know about cars there useful but back then I would have rather had the $500.00 spent on tools so I could pay $300 for my car to have been fixed. I got a mega pro-multi-bit screwdriver from my uncle when I was like 13. I only bought separate screwdrivers oh… 16 years later. The one mega pro is a little tired now but still tinkers with the best of ’em.

My dad got me a tool bench with some tools when I was perhaps 13. He meant well and I didn’t complain but they sat basically unused until my thirties because life didn’t provide me any opportunities to use them (I mostly lived in small flats in cities – places not conducive to DIY).On the plus side, I’m really happy how much use I’ve got out of it now! Yeah, it wasn’t meant to look pretty. I almost regret not using hardwood or stain of any kind but it’s about function, not form. I’ll obviously tell him there’s money in it. There’s always money in the banana stand.
