I remember at the start of Obama’s term when he was debating healthcare in congress with some of the members he was surprised that they were still fighting the battles of FDR’s days. He seemed surprised, but he shouldn’t have been. The GOP’s governing philosophy for the last many decades is dismantling every social support program created in FDR’s era and destroying any regulations passed as part of the fallout of the great depression.
