I don’t understand why you’re comparing oil to renewables. I’m not supporting oil. Even so, you can’t just compare immediate current costs. That’s not how this works at all. If you use 85% non-renewables and 15% renewables, that means if you entirely replace non-renewables with renewables.

Here’s the HUGE catch, your credit stops at a zero use balance. You don’t get credit for feeding more energy into the grid than you used from the grid. The electric company gets all that for free. And you aren’t allowed to install equipment to prevent it.
