In French, if someone described me by saying “c’est un Homme noir” “he is a black man” of course I won’t feel insulted, that’s what I am. Even in a (very) informal setting someone saying “c’est un reno” (the word “noir” reversed, it’s slang for the black man but it’s not a slur) is totally fine and I use the word myself all the time. If someone, in a professional setting, said right next to me, “c’est le noir là” lit. “the black one here” I will be offended.
