Horrible weather across the country caused widespread flight issues/delays; I was fed up and just wanted to be home, so I went to a help desk for answers (the airline had been radio silent most of the day). While I’m waiting in line fuming, this older gentleman casually steps up next to me and says, “you look pretty mad; is that anger helping your situation? Look around, everyone is mad, and is that fixing anything?” That immediately made me calm down and I thanked him.

When I was a teenager I had run out of gas on my motorcycle on an expressway and was coasting down and off-ramp when a car literally followed me onto the shoulder. I walked back and it was a woman who simply told me “get in, I’m going to buy you gas” or something to that effect. On the ride there she told me she used to ride and someone did the same thing for her once and she’d been waiting years to repay their kindness.
