Not knowing what “owning” looks like: there is a weird trend in right-wing politics based on doing something obviously humiliating to yourself and then declaring the embarrassment the public feels about you as a victory. It’s not a common thing per se, but it’s very notable when done (like the diaper protest, or the anti-vegans that ate raw meat so disturbingly that people became vegans).
I can’t think of anything a comedian could make as such a parody that would top her, to the point where I feel it HAS to be intentional. There is being stupid, and then there is being stupid to a checklist.
