If Rose City Antifa announces a lawful protest, literally anyone can show up. Rose City Antifa is not responsible for who shows up to a public protest. Sometimes, people get violent. Ted Cruz has called for RICO charges against “Antifa” in instances like this, but that is nonsensical since you can’t charge someone under RICO for showing up to a protest. These things are not mutually exclusive, and in his testimony, Wray acknowledged the FBI is prosecuting individuals who self-identify as ‘Antifa’.
Likewise, if there is a white supremacist group like the Proud Boys who have a legal protest, and someone from the group shoots someone or runs over someone with a car. The individual is prosecuted, others from the organization are not, as they did not commit a crime.
