NTA. Your son was using the well-off lifestyle YOU provide for him to justify making fun of kids that come from less wealthy families. I think deciding you aren’t going to purchase brand name stuff for him for a year and letting him borrow the equipment the school already has is a great parenting move as he is now in a position that many of the kids he bullied were in. Hopefully, he learns some empathy from this situation. Yeah I was gonna say, if you’re driving other kids around in your car you might wanna go back to another car, a car with no doors isn’t exactly great for teens who aren’t known for their judgment. NTA – I was lucky enough to have gone to a prep school when I was a kid, and this kind of brand brandishing was super common. Considering that background, I saw a lot of kids whose parents didn’t want to raise them and left them to their au pairs. The fact that you care so much is great. Depending on how old he is, maybe it would be beneficial if he had a job/got money doing chores? Supply him with basic needs (e.g. enough clothes, plain school items, etc.) and let him earn the things he wants. I think part of the problem maybe that he doesn’t understand the value of money.
