Many years ago I went to a resort in Puerto Vallarta. We left a pizza and cash for the older lady that cleaned our room. She started crying. I wrote up a note. I speak Spanish so she could show the management just in case. The money I gave her she said was what she would make in three months. Went there the next year and there were always fresh fruits and tortillas waiting for breakfast. I traveled for work for 6 years. I always kept the do not disturb sign on my door and always cleaned up after myself. I feel that’s the way it should be.

My mom is a cleaning lady and I grew up cleaning places with her and my aunts… thank you for being a kind and courteous human. It probably feels weird to hear since you were probably just doing whatever felt normal for you—which is kind of my point. We always need more of that in the world. Dude as a housekeeper I can only imagine how clean you are to make them really appreciate you. You can’t even imagine the things people who stay long-term leave behind. The dirt and just….gross.
