I May Live In Tennessee But Cimson Tide Lives In Me Shirt

And why can’t we have 24 hours on election day, primaries or general? Especially in cities, there’s no excuse! In fact, if I had it my way I’d make election day a full 48-hour thing. We have so many other open all night businesses but we have to run the damn election and early voting time on bank hours? Seriously? Guess who can easily vote during bank hours? Only people with really cushy salaried jobs who can take time off whenever ie rich people in management. I have a salaried job and I am lucky enough to live right near somewhere where I can vote from 5-6 pm, but I have a friend in Houston who is a teacher who can barely squeak by going home from his job for his polling site at 5 pm.

Thanks for the honest response. It was an interesting read. I totally agree with your last point. Progressive groups (and democrats more generally) should spend way more time doing nonpartisan education about the voting process and engaging nonvoters. Strategically, I think it would be a much better way to utilize the obviously huge amount of enthusiasm that exists on the grassroots level. Those two things can help any party get the younger vote, and also coincidentally more minorities. I’m sure the democratic establishment doesn’t want that though, since they win even with a Republican win since DNC is well funded by Goldman Sachs. And of course, GOP definitely doesn’t want that.
