oh man, I feel for any welders working for a prototyping business. The number of drawings I’ve seen where I’ve had to walk the engineer through why you can’t build things certain ways because the equipment to build it still occupies three-dimensional space.
One of the great things that Clarence Kelly Scott did at the Skunkworks was putting the design engineers out on the production floor. This forced the designers to learn to make producible designs. It also helped the fab guys learn the reason why ‘that bolt is upside down.
