It’s an adaptation of a novel from the late, great Sir Terry Pratchett that discusses tradition, belief, humanity, and all the “little lies” we train ourselves on in order to believe the big ones. All done through the guise of inimitable, dry British humor. The latter is exactly what my parents taught my brother and me growing up (well, alongside a strong dose of “Jesus is the reason for the season” stuff). I never felt like I missed out and honestly hold a bit of contempt for the idea of Santa since it enforces a “good people get better things” narrative that simply isn’t true.
