I’ve moved out of restaurants and into the office world. But sometimes I look back on it and realize how fucked up the US system is. Save money by paying your workers less and making them rely on the kindness of strangers. It’s absolute filth. Compound that with the fact that many places don’t offer any kind of benefits beyond just a job and you really see the gross side of it.

Not only do I kind of agree with OP I’d take it one step further and say if you can’t afford to pay people at least minimum wage and benefits then you should as the proprietor of business do the job yourself until you can. Because it’s nonsense to make employees depend on strangers to pay their bills.
