On the other hand, I’ve known a few people who went into this holding on to their “it’s just the flu” viewpoints until they actually got it. One went to the hospital for several days, had some complications, and was on a ventilator for several days. Another picked it up after his youngest child brought it home from daycare, was laid up for 2 weeks at home, and now that it’s passed.
He has some severe fatigue issues that he didn’t have previously. Both have changed their tunes pretty sharply about how seriously this thing should be taken, but it took them actually contracting the virus and potentially having their health permanently compromised for that to happen.
