We’re just doing this because we assume there are no consequences. Isn’t that insane? We’re defending the sustainability of a lifestyle without any understanding of the state of natural resources or the world. How can we know this is ok by assuming it’s ok? All the scientists are telling us it’s not ok… as we assume someone would stop us from killing the world if this were all really “that bad” and then fight every time a politician tries to suggest there’s something that needs to be fixed. We’re going to consume ourselves into a very painful end of life for everything.
It’s basically already happened… but here we are, gearing up to buy more plastic shit at the expense of our own survival. We’re really very dumb for a species that values intelligence in other species so much. Do you think if chimps understood masks and viruses, they wouldn’t be wearing them? This has been an eye-opening and disheartening look into the reasons behind our continuing failure to understand that the biggest and most permanent impact any of us can make on this world is the scar we leave with our resource consumption.
