This type of thing happens all over this town, however, it is usually due to the quality of employees based on the rate of pay and how busy these places get. Many tourists also treat employees in these towns like they are inferior and so they quickly become jaded and don’t give a crap about their job. I live in a very conservative area of the US in eastern TN, not too far from the great smoky mountains. The Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg area has a very familiar feel to this story and checks all the boxes. (Camping area, lots of tourist shops/restaurants, no mask mandates, super conservative, etc.)
