If Trump can’t do the debate because he is too sick then it should be canceled or rescheduled. But he would have to say that’s the reason. If Trump refuses to do the debate because he doesn’t like the virtual format (made necessary by his diagnosis of a serious infectious disease) then he should have to effectively forfeit and then Biden can get 90 minutes of a nationally televised town hall debate all to himself. You don’t get to just walk away from a presidential debate without consequences.

The optics here are so bad for Trump. Makes him look out of touch by not wanting evil technology to get in the way of a debate while Biden embraces it. Trump will instead hold rally’s, probably infect his base, and make it even more clear he will have Americans die/ be hospitalized if he thinks it will keep him in power. Regardless of covenant infection, a virtual debate would take away his only ‘tactic’ in said debate. His only strategy is to talk (shout) over and interrupt whoever he is debating, hoping you get them flustered, get in their heads so they make the mistakes.
