I’ve been in a somewhat similar situation at a bar. I was drinking with a couple of friends and this woman comes up to me and asks for me to pretend to be her boyfriend as this creeper had followed her from another bar and was making her uncomfortable. She sat with us and had a few drinks and once the creep was gone we walked her out to a cab. I’ve been in the exact same situation. I’m a regular at a few so I’m pretty well known to be pretty harmless and ran karaoke and open mic so I usually had a small mixed-gender group around me.

A woman comes up to me with the same story. The guy comes and sits next to her and she introduced me as her boyfriend. He looked dejected and left before ordering his first drink. You’re a good person for doing it! When it’s happened to me, I would instantly turn to the bartender and point at him to say “he’s my BF”. Bartenders are bloody ANGELS in these scenarios, they always say “yes, she’s here with me” without skipping a beat. They know the drill and the look.
