So, we decided on a whim to see it, knowing absolutely nothing about it. If you have seen the film then you know it starts off like a shitty documentary that is poorly filmed. In the first 30 minutes of the movie, we were like, “This documentary is trash. We should have skipped this.”Then they got to the forest, and things started getting weird, which kept us watching. I am not afraid to admit that by the time the movie ended we were freaked the fuck out.

I’ve been thinking recently whether anyone could pull off a War of the Worlds or Blair Witch today. There’s a built-in crowd of stupid you can fool with ‘based on a true story’ but to really get it more widespread would be difficult now, I think. It’ll have to be something totally new, in a new medium (VR, etc.) or a satellite thing or something.
