I’m pretty positive on it overall, but it’s definitely uneven. This a classically Trek problem though – the first 1-2 seasons of a new show always takes some time to find what works and what doesn’t.

I’m looking forward to season 3 – especially now that they’ve set things up in a way that seems like an interesting arc, and also isn’t hemmed in by the constraints of a prequel. One of my favorite things about Picard is that it’s permitted to advance the state of the universe in a way that a prequel just cannot.
