On the Norwegian side of things, the roundabout investment and stock system are meant to insulate the country from mass inflation by shifting the actual profits of this whole scheme overseas. The money made on this is insane, we are talking a trillion dollars worth of stock even after the Norwegian government has skimmed the profits off the top It is the equivalent of something like 20 times the Norwegian GDP, all from shifting oil around. If we turn our eyes back across the Atlantic, the reason corporations like ExxonMobil are so incredibly wealthy is based as much on this principle as on merely selling the oil. And what are we going to do with all those poor defense contractors who won’t have bombs to make?!? I would hope this isn’t needed, but you never know. /s
