Anecdotal, but last week a woman came in with a dude and she had her mask in her hand. I told her three times to put it on while she ordered food, and finally, cops came in to order as well. I raised my voice just enough, and they escorted her and her friend outside. They didn’t give her a citation or fine or whatever, but it looked like they talked for a solid ten minutes, and didn’t return. The cops said that we can fully refuse service, and if they choose to not wear a mask, they aren’t permitted. Seemed enough was done, I appreciated it.

In my experience, the problem isn’t people vehemently refusing to wear masks. It’s people having them but not wearing them properly, or even at all. People will have them beneath their chin, hanging from one ear or just holding them in their hand and won’t put them on due to the inconvenience. They have the mask on their person for compliance to avoid the penalties for not wearing it. People need to be fined for not wearing the mask properly, not only for refusing to wear it.
