As I teacher I can concur. I had something very similar happen in my classroom when a student (who was 6 inches taller than me and outweighed me by 50lbs at least) started destroying the classroom, throwing things and threatening me. He ripped pictures off from walls and punched a student who tried to help me. Cracked the smart board that I had to beg the district for. A police officer came into the room and tased him. He was taken away. I then had to sit in a meeting with my administration and his parents and a Union rep and explain why I was unable to control him and how it was my lesson planning that didn’t engage him enough and what can I do in the future to keep students interested so they don’t go on a rampage, and how my disciplinary skills are lacking and how that took from the education of all the students in the room. Then they all waited for me to tell them how I would do better as a teacher to entertain my students.

Problems at home, relationships, lord fucking knows but I experienced it all. This is definitely the signs of a mental breakdown. And then to have it caught on film and embarrassingly get picked up by another student? Life is at its peak right there for that guy. Then they all waited for me to tell them how I would do better as a teacher to entertain my students. I was wrong for asking for help even though he was threatening to rape me. I can’t rely on the administration to provide discipline as that’s not their job even though he punched another student hard enough that he fell to the floor.
