I read an article by another Reddit use that was a link to a Facebook post about an elderly lady who thought this was all synthesized-fake news made by the democrats until she contracted COVID-19 a week later. Amazed at the average intelligence in the United States. If everyone gets sick at the same time way more people will die because hospitals will be overwhelmed. If we spread out the rate of infection, then hospitals can keep up, and people won’t be perishing in parking lots and waiting rooms.

Even in a quarantine, community spread will happen. People will get sick. People will be in the ICU taking up ventilators. But not all at once. The idea is that Everyone (or a substantial %) will get sick, but at a slower pace, since the more stringent the quarantine, the slower community spread happens. In America, we have about 925,000 hospital beds and about 160,000 ventilators. And most of them are already being used for other patients with other diseases. I’m not sure what the number of free hospital beds and respirators are, but its a much smaller number than 925k and 160k.
