Yeah. There’s very little balance in American news reporting, seems to me. So most people who don’t dig a little deeper end up consuming ‘news’ that validates what they think they know. TBF, this seems to be true both on the right and the left. Many people aren’t really exposed to opinions that challenge their preconceptions. And a lot of social media only exacerbates this.

It’s more about the force-feeding of the religious doctrine of “faith > facts”. Who needs education when you have faith in the LORD? Who needs healthcare when you have faith in the LORD? Who needs anything in this world when the afterlife awaits you with the LORD? Religion was invented to control people and it’s still doing that to this day.
