This comment is not meant to disparage those courses. I’m speaking about the requirement itself. In fact, some of my favorite classes in college were social science courses like Classics and History. I’m just saying that people should themselves want to take these classes, not forced to. There needs to be a way to spark interest in these (not sure how).

All the research supports learning is driven intrinsically. Thats why they push engaging students and discussion so much. You cant force someone to learn something they dont want to. It is the hardest part of teaching.
