I thought about how lucky I was to have so many options of mirrors to look into, Batman, Superman, Wolverine, Cyclops, Cap, Ironman… endless opportunities to see myself in those heroes that look like me. Enough that It helped me stop caring what they looked like and instead identify with the quality of their character. Mirrors for who I wanted to be – Beast, Storm, Jubilee, Bishop, Blade, and Black Panther.

It breaks my heart that that mirror has been taken away from so many who needed it so badly. His work will endure and build upon the good I’m speaking of, though it may never be counted. But it’s real. He helped and he would have helped so much more. And that loss is real too.
