Different items, but kind of the same story. We’re big fans of thrift stores so try to go there if we can, especially for things like costumes for Halloween. This last year we were at a Goodwill looking around for the kids’ costumes and we came across one of those classic pumpkin buckets for candy. We needed a new one because the last one didn’t survive the dogs because it was left down. Anyway, the price tag from Walmart was still on it and it was $.99 but the Goodwill price was $2.99. Like, wtf!? We left and went to Value Village, a popular thrift store chain in Western Washington. A few years back I needed some new jeans. Went into Goodwill next door to Walmart. They had the same jeans I could buy at Walmart but at the same or higher prices.

Yep, same with me. Goodwill realized they could charge more for the really nice clothes, thereby leaving poor people still unable to afford anything nice. So yeah, fuck ’em. I donate my (nicer) clothes to our local hospital, which is always needing clothes for homeless people and trauma victims whose clothing had to be cut off by first responders.
