Former teacher — correct. The reality is teachers a far less effective than people think they are/want them to be. The best teachers, at least in k-12, are intellectually curious people who are great at building relationships because relationships get buy-in with the students.

All the research supports learning is driven intrinsically. That’s why they push engaging students and discussion so much. You can’t force someone to learn something they don’t want to. It is the hardest part of teaching.
