So I held my hand out for him, and he gave me the tiniest little pinecone that I’ve ever seen, then scurried back to his mom. Once our set was over, I chatted with him mom about it. Apparently, he had been watching people drop dollar bills into our guitar case throughout the set and asked his mom about it, so she explained to him how tipping works. He had no money, but still wanted us to know that he thought we were good, so went and found a pinecone.
I went in and grabbed a bunch of pop and candy and they came in just as i was buying all of the pizza. I just left it on the counter and told them i saw them trying to share their money and left $20 on the counter for the kid’s bike and told him he gets to divide it up and get his bike fixed because he offered to use his savings.
