It’s not unknown but not talked about like they were in the early 2000s, but stem cells. I have friends in many STEM fields and they all bring up the advances we made with stem cells. I also read an article about stem cells rebuilding the lungs of COVID patients. Cynthia Kenyon, a molecular biologist from UCSF is doing research on what genes affect aging. She found a gene called daf-2, when mutated, prolongs life.
I haven’t looked at the state of research on this in a while, but I’m excited for biofuel cells, specifically ones based on stuff like glucose oxidase (think something like this). There’s a chance we can get power, however little of it, from our own blood glucose. It could power small devices inside your body eventually – they won’t need a battery or external power source.
