Edit: apparently answering the door with a gun makes you a retard so I will clarify something that anyone with a gun should know. Do not answer the door as he did with a gun. I’m not saying he was wrong at all but obviously it is not safe to do so. The correct form of answering the door with a gun is slowly peeking out with the gun behind the door not storming out and not letting the gun be visible. If you are planning on storming out then you had better have the gun up and ready but ideally you will peek and assess the situation before making any decisions. If it is a cop then you immediately let them know you have a gun and are putting it down so as not to startle them so they don’t shoot you in your home for being cautious. As a civilian, you must be very careful and practice restraint even if those on the other side of the door will not.
