This is fair. His casting doesn’t change who’s writing and who’s directing (please just kick David Yates out already). However he does have a knack for elevating his roles despite their shortcomings. For example, They gave him fuck all to do in Dr. Strange but he’s still great in it.

Would have been much better if it had turned out that Colin Ferril’s character was working for Grindlewald, not that he is Grindlewald. Revealed in a post-credit scene, or in the beginning of the second movie.
