I’ve never been to England and I only ever heard of this dish from that Munchies video on YouTube some 5 or 6 years ago. Jellied eels have been on my bucket list since then, there’s something so fascinating about them to me. I’ve never seen something so unique, so bizarre. They’re definitely the first thing I’m gonna go try if I ever visit London. I think I will like it.

I’m south east London and had the opposite experience when I tried them a few years ago. I was expecting to really hate them – I’m not a fan of gelatin, I can’t do pork pies. But I really liked the jellied eels and the gelatin didn’t bother me for some reason! I think it’s because it’s cold – my brain associates it with normal safe fruit jelly or something.
