You need to find a therapist that will both work the hours you are available to meet and who is a good fit for you. Where I live, many therapists are working roughly 9 to 5 hours, so if you’re in a full-time job that requires you at work during those hours, your selection of therapists who work outside those hours is slim. Your option is to tell your workplace you need to leave for 1 to 2 hours a week for therapy (good luck with that in today’s working culture.

Finding a therapist who is a good fit is also a challenge. My last therapist was a terrible fit and I decided to stop going because I was just throwing money away at this person who clearly didn’t give a shit about anything I had to say (and actually had the impression she disliked me for no reason I could discern). I think this could just be more of a general issue as a straight guy seeking therapy… I wouldn’t be surprised if it is harder for certain people to be sympathetic to someone who looks like me, whether their bias is willful or not.
