What will be most interesting to witness is what will become of Trump among the Republican base… will they continue to idolize him, or will his mythos dissipate rather quickly into a puddle of the spray tan as they move on to the next hot thing. I’ll never forget how quickly they moved on from W after spending nearly 8 years deifying him (though not on par with how they formed a cult around Trump). By 2009, you could hardly find anyone who would admit they supported him. Conservatives acted like he never existed. Completely ghosted.

I can’t see Trump going quietly into the dark night, so there will probably be a bitter breakup here. He will try to retaliate and bring down the GOP establishment for abandoning him, but the question is whether it will be successful. A spiteful Trump, if he isn’t in prison, may try to buy OAN and compete with Fox to get payback on them as well. In the end, I think Trump ends up like a sad has-been insult comic act making the rounds at random local BBQ festivals and gun shows trying to feel the high from the glory days one last time.
