You could have what we have in the United Kingdom where we give no defined equal representation and have to deal with Scottish Separatists begging to leave the union every 30 seconds and of course a small matter of Irish Republicans who spent the better half of the 20th-century bombing the shit out of the country. This is senators people. Take a look at representatives, which is based on population. If you know anything about history you know why the government was designed this way. Some people wanted representation based on population, but that favors states with big cities like California, New York, and Texas. Others wanted equal representation for the states regardless of population. This of course favors the small states. So they merged the two.

You guys understand that the point of the senate was to give the states with less population some more of a vote. The house of representatives is the balance to this where California has 53 and Montana has 1. This was not made to perfectly represent the population but as a compromise so that those states don’t get completely destroyed by people in California and NY, who don’t understand the needs of farmers, making all the policy.
